The Goliath Express 1100 panel van, like the other models in the series, was manufactured at the Goliath works of Carl F. W. Borgward in Bremen. The versatility of the station wagon helped it to be used as a multi-purpose vehicle by the Technisches Hilfswerk at that time. At least one of these vehicles was in use in every state association. There they served depending upon requirement as guidance vehicle or for the transport of aids, in order to bring these fast to disaster or emergency places. Also in the daily service operation they were gladly used as light economic vehicle for the transport of equipment and consumer goods to the local federations. With the bankruptcy of the Borgward parent company in 1961, this vehicle unfortunately disappeared from the market. But thanks to the solid technology, the last vehicles were still in use at the Technisches Hilfswerk until the beginning of the seventies. In addition, the scale model comes with license plates and rear view mirrors for self-assembly.
